Barrel

No matter what anybody or any expert says, we like to believe the barrel of the dart is the most important part. Barrel is what holds the point and point and shaft.

Today, most tungsten barrels are made in 70%, 80% and 90%. The remaining percentage counts for the nickel content.

Shaft

What is the best weight of darts to use?

For soft tip darts, we recommend using 18 grams or around. And for steel tip darts, we recommend 22 to 24 grams.

Can you use soft tip darts on bristle dartboard?

There is absolutely no reason why we see you can’t do it. Having said that, mind you that bristle dartboards is assigned to steel tips darts for a reason.

Soft tip darts will never stick into a bristle board quite a well as a steel tip can. Bristle boards are a little more demanding. Something only steel tips can deliver!

What is the best darts for beginners?

For beginners, we recommend something soft tip and lightweight with good grip. Look into the Fat Cat Darts and Wolmund Soft Darts. You get soft tips and plenty in the pack! Great for practice.

What weight darts do the professionals use?

There’s nothing a pro can’t do. Professionals use darts that vary massively in weights. Some use light, some use heavy. But more the heavy, of course. Most professionals will use darts that are around 24 to 26 grams, or above.

There are at least a dozen, if not more, types of dart flights out there. And they all come in different dimensions, shapes, sizes and whatnot. Each, clearly, come with their own set of benefits and disadvantages.

We, personally, think that the standard flight is great for learners and beginners. For speed, we prefer the kite or teardrop. And for balance and smoothness, we like the no.6 shape.

Essentially, it is all about finding the balance. Sometimes you get more of one thing, and less of the other. And that’s exactly what the game is all about!

Does the length of my dart’s shaft affect my shots?

That’s a great question. And yes! It does affect your shots. A longer shaft length will move the center of gravity of the dart to the back.

A shorter shaft will do the exact opposite! If you tend to throw darts by holding it more at the back, then getting a longer shaft is a smart move. If you prefer holding it more at the front, then get a shorter shaft. Simple as that!
